A loving mother of two beautiful daughters, a daughter of heartbroken parents, and a friend to many passed away on May 22, 2021 at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City after complications from her heart transplant.
Ashley Nichole Castorena was born in Coffeyville on September 13, 1984 to O C Castorena and Tracie (Coffey) Lowe. She was raised in Coffeyville and Independence attending school in Coffeyville until 1997 where she began going to Independence. She graduated from Independence High School and then continued her education at Independence Community College. She began working at Kmart and then she began working for Walmart in 2003. She worked for Walmart until her health declined after dedicating 12 years of service. In 2017 Ashley became so ill she was told she wouldn’t leave the hospital if she didn’t receive a heart transplant. On September 1, 2018 she was gifted a new heart that has given almost 3 more years of memories with her family. Ashley loved doing arts and crafts and scrolling through millions of pins on Pinterest. She liked to paint, draw, scrapbook, and create treasures from Dollar Tree finds. Ashley was brutally honest, she just told it how it was but that is also what made her such a loyal friend. She helped whoever needed it and was overall just a happy person. She enjoyed being outdoors, Ashley loved camping and fishing but above all this she loved her family and her friends.
Ashley’s memories will live on with her father, O C Castorena and his companion Erin Trimble, her mother Tracie and Charles D Lowe Jr., fiancé Lance Ivie, daughters Memory and Annaley Wilson, son Quincy Jones, sister Alyssa Rogers her husband Dee, step-brother Steven Trimble his wife Starla, maternal grandfather Gary Coffey, as she considered them father-in-law Dennis Ivie and mother-in-law Carolyn Ivie, and niece and nephew Aria and Drake Rogers.
She now rests with her paternal grandparents; Octavian and Mickey Castorena, maternal grandmother Carolyn Coffey, and niece Serenity Castorena.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 2:00pm at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Visitation will be held the evening before on May 27, 2021 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm also at the Chapel. The family suggests memorials be made payable to LifeShare of Oklahoma so that maybe someone in need of a transplant will have the same gift Ashley was blessed with. Those gifts may be sent in care of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel 2405 Woodland, Ave. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
