Coffeyville resident, Aileen Clydeena McCarter entered into rest on Thursday evening, April 5, 2007 in Coffeyville. She was 85. Aileen Clydeena McCarter was born on September 12, 1921 near Cherryvale, Kansas to Herman C. and Frances C. RottermanPittenger. She was a 1941 graduate of Field Kindley Memorial High School. She worked in a photography shop as an artist oil painting the portraits. Aileen was a sales clerk and worked in the sub post office at McCartney Drug Store for several years. On August 9, 1942, she married Charles Clifford McCarter in Coffeyville, Kansas. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Salinas, California where Mr. McCarter served in the military. After he received his honorable discharge in 1945 they returned home to Coffeyville and Mr. McCarter began working for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. Aileen attended the First Assembly of God Church of Coffeyville. She enjoyed singing, photography and working in her yard and flower garden. She is survived by her son, Clifford Clyde McCarter of Coffeyville; three sisters, Marjorie Trimmell and Sue Shenk, both of Independence and Virginia Leonard of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles Clifford McCarter and on December 8, 2000, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 in the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Lloyd Jones will officiate and burial will follow in Penwell-Gabels Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday beginning at 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the funeral home to sign the guest register. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Society and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
