Albert Allen

AlbertShorty Allen 88, of rural Coffeyville entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 5, 2007. He was born February 7, 1919 near Pittsburg, KS to Bryan and Gustava Hobbs Allen. He moved with his parents to Corbin City, KS as a small child. He attended school in CorbinCity and Cherryvale. Albert later married Velda Patterson. Albert served in World War II in the Army Air Force before being honorably discharged as a disabled veteran. He was a farmer for many years, worked at Parsons Ammunition Plant, Continental Can and retired from Dixon Manufacturing in 1989. He enjoyed gardening, farming and his animals. He was a member of the UnitedPentecostalChurch. He is survived by his wife of the home; sons, Howard William and wife, Bonnie, of Grain Valley, MO, Franklin and wife, Kay, of Coffeyville, Kenny and wife, Sharon, of Liberty, KS; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mildred Tuttle and grandson, John. Albert will be missed by his family and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville, KS. Burial will follow at FairviewCemetery in Cherryvale, KS. Friends may call on Thursday, November 8, 2007 from 12 pm to 9 pm and on Friday, November 9, 2007 from 9 am to 9 pm to sign the guest register. The family will greet friends Friday evening from 6 pm to 7:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Research or the Kidney Foundation these may be left with the funeral home.
