Albert Lee Enloe, 87, Coffeyville, Kansas, died Sunday afternoon, September 25, 2011 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. Albert was born August 27, 1924 at Thayer, Kansas to Charlie A. Enloe and Mary Crowl Enloe. He left Thayer at an early age, first moving to Chanute and then to Coffeyville. Albert was a graduate of Field Kindley High School. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country during World War II as a member of the forces fighting in Germany. Upon receiving his Honorable Discharge, Albert returned to Coffeyville and shortly thereafter, married Joan Geneva Whetstone on April 6, 1950 at Coffeyville. Joan preceded him in death April 15, 1996. Albert was a truck driver most of his life. He drove for Squaw Transport, CampH and Parkersburg. He also drove an alfalfa truck for National Alfalfa of Independence, Kansas. Albert retired from over 20 years of truck driving and went to work for Glen Owens Construction. He was a member of the Coffeyville First Southern Baptist Church the Coffeyville American Legion, Post 20 and a former member of the Teamsters Union. Albert loved hunting and fishing, vegetable gardening and working in his yard. He was very active in his church and built churches in several locations, including South Coffeyville and White Oak, Oklahoma. Survivors are one daughter, Debra Gordon of Coffeyville and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents by a son, Ronald Enloe in 1977 three brothers, Edward, Fred and Jimmy Enloe by one sister, Eva May Burns and by a grandson, Wesley Scott Gordon. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel with Rev. Stephen Heslip officiating. Interment will follow in Coffeyvilles Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of PenwellGabel Funeral Home amp Crematory. Military graveside rites provided by VFW Post 1022 and American Legion Post 20. Visitation will be noon8pm, Tuesday and those who wish may give to the charity of their choice and all donations may be left at the funeral home.
