Alberta Jean Mosher Robison-Long died Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville. She was 81. Mrs. Long was born October 5, 1925, in Coffeyville to Lewis and Hattie Winningham Mosher. She grew up in Coffeyville and attended local schools. On May 31, 1942 she married Verla A. Robison in Nowata, OK. This union lasted 61 years until his death Feb. 2, 2003. After their marriage Verla enlisted in the Marine Corps and spent the duration of the war overseas. Upon his discharge, they traveled extensively throughout the United States working on construction projects. Verla was called back into the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and Jean went to work at Continental Can building aircraft for the war effort as a Rosie the Riveter. In 1967 Jean became a licensed cosmetologist and owned and operated Jean39;s Beauty Salon for nearly forty years. She was an avid computer user and took many local computer classes, her interests also included genealogy, which culminated in her publishing a book on her research. She also hunted and fished, gardened, enjoyed needlework, singing and dancing. She and Verla traveled to many area dances to jitterbug, waltz and two step. Jean was active in politics and served as precinct committee woman for her voting district. She worked for several years in her precinct during elections. For many years, she and Verla enjoyed building buggies and going on their summer dune buggy excursions with a group of buggy enthusiasts. During cold weather they became RVing snowbirds and spent their winters in Arizona, Texas, Florida or Mexico enjoying the warmer climate and making new friends. Jean was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, Montgomery County Genealogical Society, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 1022, charter member of Marine Corp League Auxiliary Southeast Kansas Detachment 612 of Independence, Montgomery County Women39;s Democrat Club, former auxiliary member of Steamfitters Local 339, and a volunteer at CRMC Hospital Auxiliary working with Evi in the gift shop. On September 29, 2004 she married Evi A. Long in Louisville, KY. They enjoyed going to Countrytime Theater performances and also traveled extensively during their short time together. During her illness Evi was never far from her side, caring for her and encouraging her. Survivors include her husband Evi A. Long, her son Richard Dick Robison and wife Belinda of Coffeyville, stepson Evi and Linda Long Jr., of Dearing, stepdaughter Vivian West of S. Coffeyville. Granddaughters, Melanie Savage of Coffeyville, and Rebecca McKellips, Murran and Ainsley of S. Coffeyville, a grandson Doug Robison of Tokyo, Japan, Bob Tedstrom of Tulsa, OK, Jake, Aaron Grace, and Amy; and Stacy and Chad Hayden of Coffeyville, Drake and Lindsey; George and Mary Noland of Coffeyville, Wilfred Laforte, Jr., Cassie Noland, Samuel and Joseph; Danny and Lana Noland of Alton, Il., Mandy, Jennifer, and the late Sammie Jo. Jason, Jackie, and Nicholas, and several nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by all her eight siblings; brothers Wilbur, Otto, Omen, Andy and sisters Irma Irons, Leona Irving, Mary Clifton and Martha Sleeth. Services will be Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave. In lieu of other remembrances, memorial contributions may be made to the Coffeyville Community College Technical Scholarship Fund or the CRMC Oncology Unit Building Fund. These may be left with the funeral home. Friends may call on Wednesday, February 14, 2007, from 9 am until 9 pm at the funeral home to sign the guest register.
