Alberta Ellen Skidmore 1913 - 2005 Alberta Ellen Skidmore, Coffeyville, Kansas resident, passed away late Friday evening, October 28, 2005 at the Medical Lodge in Coffeyville, Kansas. She was born August 11, 1913 to Albert James and Jessie May Greenfield in Jefferson, Kansas. She was born Alberta Ellen Greenfield, August 11, 1913 near Jefferson, Kansas. The family moved to a farm five miles North East of Wann, Oklahoma, where she grew up with her three brothers. She attended Oakdale School and graduated from Wann High School in 1930. In 1960 she received her Licensed Practical Nursing Certificate at Saint Lukes Hospital in Denver, Colorado. Alberta and Charles August Skidmore were married December 30, 1931 at Noel, Missouri. They lived in Omaha, Nebraska, where there two sons were born. About 1937 they moved to a farm near Hiwasse, Arkansas and then to Joplin, Missouri in 1938 where Mr. Skidmore was a printer with the Joplin Globe until 1941. During WWII they lived in Tucson, Arizona where Mr. Skidmore was employed by the McDonald-Douglas Aircraft Manufacturing Company. In 1944 they moved to Denver, Colorado and Charles returned to the printing profession as a linotype operator. After graduating from Nurses training. Alberta worked at Saint Lukes Hospital and at Davis Nursing Home in Denver. Her husband attended Denver Chiropractic College taking classes at night and received his diploma in 1959. In 1968 he retired from 22 years of printing from the Rocky Mountain News. He served as a resident physician for two years at the Carnegie Oklahoma Chiropractic Hospital. Then they moved to the old Greenfield home place near Wann in north eastern Oklahoma. Alberta lived there until March 1993 when she resided with her son, Jim Skidmore, in Littleton, Colorado. She is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Wiley Skidmore; three brothers, Harold, Raymond and Frank Greenfield. She is survived by her son Jim Skidmore, Littleton, Colorado. 11 grandchildren; several great and great great grandchildren She was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church, Denver, Colorado; Oakdale Assembly of God Church, Wann, Oklahoma. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2005 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas 67337. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2005 Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
