Mrs. Anita Mae Compston, 78, of Coffeyville, and former Wann, Oklahoma resident, died Saturday morning at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. Anita Mae Compston was born September 25, 1932 at Wann, Oklahoma, the daughter of Herman Carl Drews and Elizabeth Margaret Pugh Drews. She attended and graduated from Lenapah High School and attended Draughan Business College In Tulsa. She worked at Continental Can Company from 1952 until 1962. She also worked as a substitute mail carrier for a time. She was a former member of Wann First Baptist Church. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Coffeyville, Bellevue Extension Home Unit, the Wann Lions Club and TOPS. She was a homemaker, a proud mother, grandmother and great great grandmother to her entire family. On April 19, 1952 at South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, she was united in marriage to Richard Compston. Mr. Compston preceded his wife in death on August 7, 2006. Survivors include: three sons, Richard Compston, Jr. of Coffeyville, Newt Compston of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Joe Compston of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma two daughters, Pamela Cook of San Antonio, Texas and Betty Langer of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 15 grandchildren 12 great grandchildren two brothers, Norman Drews of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma and Dwayne Drews of Grove, Oklahoma and three sisters, Lumonia Davis of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma Delores Dean of Wann, Oklahoma and Patricia Hill of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Wann, Oklahoma with the Reverend David Guerrero, pastor and Pastor Wayne Martin, officiating. Interment will be at the Dewey, Oklahoma Cemetery. Friends may call at the PenwellGabel Ford Wulf Bruns Chapel from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The family has suggested memorial remembrances to the First Baptist Church of Wann, Oklahoma and remembrances will be received at the funeral home.
