Annette Thomley Somerset, 86, passed away at home surrounded by family on 17 September 2019. She and her late husband, “Don” moved to Coffeyville, KS, from Dayton, TX, two years ago. She is survived by her daughters, Beverly Wittkop (Stephen), Wendy Haught (Herb) and Lisa Somerset, and grandchildren Caitlin Wittkop (Hunter), Nathaniel Haught, Emmaline Haught, Devin Somerset (Desiree), Kaley Palanjian, and Tucker Palanjian and two great-granddaughters, Melody Kent and Dani Haught, and by her twin sister, June Peters, nephew Scott Peters and niece Teresa (Peters) Hallford.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Tillis Thomley and Myra Draughon Thomley, and one grandson, Stephen Corey Wittkop.
Anne grew up playing piano for her church in Wicksburg, AL, and even played for her own high school graduation. She attended Troy State Teachers College as a music major, where she played tenor sax in a dance band and met and married Don. After Don graduated from Auburn University in 1956, the couple moved to Ft. Walton Beach, FL, where they began their family, and Anne became a full-time homemaker. They called Ft. Walton Beach home for the next forty years.
Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 19, at 6:30 pm, followed by the Rosary at 7 pm at Our Lady of Fatima Chapel, Chelsea, OK. A sung Requiem High Mass will be offered by The Reverend Father Timothy Geckle, CMRI, at Noon on Friday, Sept. 20, also at Our Lady of Fatima Chapel. Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home of Coffeyville, KS, is in charge of arrangements.
Burial will be Saturday, Sept. 28, at 3:30 pm at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Troy, AL, with The Reverend John Trough, CMRI, officiating. Skeen Funeral Home of Troy, AL, will handle the arrangements.
