Barbara L. Cooper, 81, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Monday, April 30, 2012 at CRMC in Coffeyville, Kansas. Barbara was born on November 3, 1930 in Independence, Kansas to Ivy and Minnie Shepard Spears. She grew up and attended the Independence school system. On April 27, 1946 she was united in marriage to Jack William Stuart in Independence. Following their marriage the couple made their home in Coffeyville where Mr. Stuart was employed as warehouseman for Kansas Wholesale Grocery at 1300 South Willow owned by the McNabney family later known as Taylor Wholesale Grocery and owned by Jim Taylor. Mr. Stuart died January 11, 1978. On April 17, 1985 she married Charles F. Cooper in Coffeyville. Mr. Cooper was a retired Mississippi State Trooper. He preceded his wife in death January 28, 1992. Barbara was a homemaker. She was a member of the American Red Cross where she worked. She enjoyed working puzzles and watching the Kansas City Royals baseball games. Most of all she enjoyed her time with her family. Surviving to honor her memory are her children Michael Stuart and wife, Ginger and Jacqueline Yell and husband, Rockie all of Coffeyville seven grandchildren eighteen greatgrandchildren, and four greatgreat grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivy and Minnie husbands, Jack Stuart and Charles Cooper brothers, Ivy and Bobby Spears and sisters, Helen Green, Florence Spears, Christine ONeil, Catherine Kirkman and Charlotte Culp. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Veterans Patio at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas. Pastor Mark Wilson will officiate. Friends may call on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. to sign the guest register. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society these may be left with the funeral home.
