Bernard L. Bill Cook Coffeyville resident, Bernard L. Bill Cook, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 24, 2007. He was 87. Bernard was born on March 23, 1920 in Jefferson, Kansas to Ivan and Grace Wilson Cook and lived in the Dearing, Kansas area all his life. He attended Jefferson Grade School and graduated from Independence High School. On April 23, 1951 Bernard married Phyllis Inman in Arkansas. They were married for 37 years before she preceded him in death on April 1, 1988. Mr. Cook drove a truck for over fifty years. Twenty-five of those years he was a self-employed trucker. He retired in October, 1986. He was a member of the old Jefferson Methodist Church. He is survived by his sons, Steve and wife Dena Cook of Coffeyville and Jay and wife Monica Cook, of Independence, Kansas; daughter, Kimberly and husband Ken Durst of Caney, Kansas; sister, Louise Jabben of Independence, Kansas; five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Phyllis. A half brother R.V. Jacobs. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 Am on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Mike Graham will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Penwell-Gabels Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Friday evening from 6-8 pm at the Funeral Home.
