BERNICE MARIE HANSEN, devoted wife and mother, passed away in Sebastian Florida. Bernice was born September 4, 1908, and passed away June 19, 2011. She moved to Florida in 2004 as a resident of Southland Suites assisted living facility in Melbourne, Florida, to be near her children. Bernice was born near Galva in Ida County, Iowa, and grew up in South Dakota. Bernice married Bernard James Hansen at Oswego, Kansas, in 1931. They lived near Edna, Kansas and worked for Will, Virgil, and Donald Stine through the depression years before moving to Kansas City, Kansas in 1941where Bernard worked at the Phillips Petroleum Refinery for 26 years. Bernice devoted her life to her family. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She was active in several areas of her church and particularly enjoyed her quilting group. After retirement from Phillips in 1966 they moved back to Edna for 15 years and eventually to Coffeyville, Kansas, in 1981. Bernard passed away February 5, 2003, at Windsor Place in Coffeyville, Kansas. Bernice is also preceded in death by 3 brothers and 4 sisters, soninlaw Louis Delisio and grandson Jeffrey Hansen. She is survived by her brother Zenith Hansen of Bridgewater SD son Francis and wife Ruth Hansen of Satellite Beach FL, daughter Sharon Delisio of Melbourne FL, grandchildren: David Hansen, Melbourne FL Lisa Delisio and Bernard Martinese, Niskayuna NY Annette Delisio and Greg Gans, Portland OR Louis Delisio, Glenville NY and 3 great grandchildren Bernard and Kevin Martinese, and Louis Delisio. Bernice will be interred in the family plot at Edna, Kansas in the North Edna Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 with a graveside service. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials at United Methodist Church, Coffeyville, Kansas. Friends may call on Monday, June 27, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas to sign the guest register.
