Berniece E. Hayes, 90, of Coffeyville, died Saturday morning at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. Berniece was born May 18, 1922 in Craig County, Oklahoma, the daughter of David King Dunn and Mary Louise Carroll Dunn. She attended Pettit of Plain View Schools in Craig County. Mrs. Hayes worked as a housewife and mother. She also worked as a cook and custodian at Valeda Grade School for 9 years, worked 4 years for Electra Manufacturing Co. in Independence, and worked for the Kansas Army Ammunitions Plant in Parsons for 23 years until her retirement in 1989. After her retirement she cared for the elderly in their homes. She attended Pleasant View Church, Rock Creek Church of God and since 1984 has attended Tyro Christian Church. She married Arthur Denver Banzet on May 20, 1940 at Edna, Kansas. The ceremony was performed by Berneices brother, Henry Dunn in his gas station. Denver was killed in a tractor accident on February 28, 1972. On May 15, 1974,she was united in marriage to Carl J. Hayes. Mr. Hayes died on December 29, 1979. Surviving are: three sons, Howard L.and his wife Pam Banzet of Coffeyville, Larry Dean Banzetand his wife Carla of Chealsea, Oklahoma and Barry Gene and his wife Beth Banzet of Ottawa, Kansas two daughters, Ruby Eppler and her husband Jim of Dewey, Oklaoma and Louise Palmer and her husband Joe of Coffeyville 17 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son Leon and his wife Susan three sisters Carrie, Katie and Jolene 3 brothers, Henry, Spencer and Allen her parents, David King and Mary Louise Dunn and one great grandson, Reid Ryan Bamzet Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the PenwellGabel Ford Wulf Bruns Chapel with Evangelist David Bycroft, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at the Lake Creek Cemetery in Bartlett, Kansas. Friends may call at the PenwellGabel Ford Wulf Bruns Chapel from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 pm on Tuesday. The family has suggested memorial remembrances to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or the Joy Group and Tyro Christian Church. Remembrances will be received at the funeral home
