Betty Green

Betty J. Green, 86, of Coffeyville, Kansas died Saturday afternoon, November 19, 2011 at Medicalodge of Dewey, Oklahoma. Betty was born December 6, 1924 at Prairie Grove, Arkansas to Noel Monroe Kinion and Cora Hester Thomas Kinion. She grew up in Prairie Grove and graduated high school there. Betty married Elmer Franklin Green on June 1, 1942 at Miami, Oklahoma. Elmer was a member of the U.S. Navy and the couple moved to Wichita, Kansas, where Betty worked in one of the assembly plants until the end of the war. After Elmers military service, the Greens moved to Coffeyville in 1946, where her husband was a plumber and steamfitter. Mr. Green preceded his wife in death July 5, 1992. Betty was a member of Coffeyvilles First Christian Church and Order of the Eastern Star. She loved to bowl, sew and cook. Survivors include a daughter, Corene Harrell and her husband, Curtis of Coffeyville two granddaughters, Sarah Cabanas and her husband, Chris of Lawrence, Kansas and Kara Thiele of Kansas City, Missouri one greatgrandson, Cooper Cabanas of Lawrence and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents her husband and five brothers and one sister. Graveside funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2011 in Coffeyvilles Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel. Private family viewing will be held, but friends are invited to stop by the funeral home and sign the register book, Monday and Tuesday, 8 am5pm and until 1pm, Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to the Coffeyville First Christian Church and may be left at PenwellGabel Funeral Home Crematory.
