Betty Herring

Betty J. Herring, 83, Liberty, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2005, at her home in Liberty. She was born September 21, 1921, in Butler, Pennsylvania, the daughter of James A. and Edith B. Shaffer Gray. She has lived in the Liberty area most of her life. She graduated from Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Liberty, Wednesday Winners and the Methodist Young Matrons Organization. On May 12, 1941, she married Harold Walter Herring at Independence, Kansas. He passed away January 25, 1998. Mrs. Herring is survived by: one son, Harold Robert Bob Herring and wife Carla Coffeyville, Kansas three daughters: Beverly Herring Liberty, Kansas Dorothy McMillan Liberty, Kansas Barbara Smith and husband Jerry Kansas City, Mo. one sister: Hazel Deetz Buhler, Ks. 6 Grandchildren 3 Great Grandchildren Mrs. Herring was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister. Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at the First United Methodist Church in Liberty, Kansas. Mrs. Herring will lie in state from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 24, at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at the Liberty Cemetery.
