Betty L. Thompson, 77, of Havana, Kansas, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Betty was born September 10, 1930, the daughter of Elmer LeRoy and Myrtle Wyman Wade. She attended schools in Round Mound, Kansas. On August 29, 1956 she married Chester Thompson in Miami, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Havana Cemetery Board and the Havana Veterans Day Association. Surviving to honor her memory are her children, Daniel A. Thompson of Iola, Kansas, Linda Alfrey of Welda, Kansas, Anthony L. Thompson of Iola, Kansas and David W. Thompson of Cherryvale, Kansas; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Russell Dean Wade and Donald Gene Wade. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chester Thompson; son, Ronald Wayne Thompson; brothers, Carl, Bus, Smokey, Lloyd, Billy and Ralph Wade and sister, Doris Walls. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2008 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Reverend Gerald Morris of the Grace Fellowship Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the Havana Cemetery, Havana Kansas. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the funeral home to sign the guest register. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Bettys memory to the Havana Veterans Day Association in care of the funeral home.
