Beulah Simmons

Obituary Beulah Darlene Simmons Beulah D. Simmons died on Sunday, December 31, 2006 in Overland Park, Kansas. She was 80. Beulah Darlene Ritter was born November 21, 1926 the daughter of Charlie and Della Ritter of Climax, Kansas. She grew up and attended school in Climax. She met and married JR James Raymond Simmons of Severy, Kansas. The couple was married on February 27, 1949. They lived for a time in Eureka, Kansas where Beulah worked at a five and dime store before the couple moved to their home in Coffeyville. They lived and worked on a small farm outside of Coffeyville. She was a very humble and a hard working Christian person. During beginning portion of the couples life in Coffeyville, Beulah spent operating the Rainbow Bread Store in Coffeyville for a number of years at two diffent locations. As their family farm grew, she went back to work on their 60 acre vegetable farm for several years raising and selling a large varity of farm fresh organic vegetables. She spent many days tending to her favorite tomato and strawberry plants and loved to try new recipes. She brought farm fresh milk from her very best friends and neighbors and was often found canning many types of fruits and vegetables. In 1980, her husband of thirty years,JR passed on. Beulah decided to continue to live on the farm and she went to work at Emerson Electric in Independence. She then retired and moved to Clear View City, Kansas to be closer to her grandchildren. Here she enjoyed the benefits of retirement community living and new found friends. She had many visits to and from her grandchildren Kyle and Emilee Simmons. She took every opportunity to spoil them as most grandmas do. Of course every visit to grandmas house would not be complete without the diet cokes and popsickles for the grandkids. Despite many hardships, Beulah never lost faith in God. She was a fatihful and active member of the United Methodist Church. Survivors include her son, Ronald D. Simmons of Overland Park, Kansas; her mother-in-law Grace Raymond Simmons and son-in-law Dale Simmons both of Fredonia; a grandson Kyle Joe Simmons of Overland Park, Kansas.
