Bill Edwin Adams age 86 of Nowata, Oklahoma passed away on March 9, 2018 at Hillcrest Hospital in Claremore, Oklahoma.
Bill was born in Wellington, Kansas on March 7, 1932 to Ralph C and Arvilla (Byers) Adams. As a child his family moved to a farm near Coffeyville, Kansas where he attended grade school and graduated from Field Kindley High School. He was a graduate of Coffeyville Junior College, with an Associate's Degree.
Bill enlisted in the US Navy serving during the Korean War, where he proudly served his country for four years on the Air Craft Carrier USS Boxer CVA-21. He was a class A Sheet Metal Smith. Once being honorably discharged from the war he returned to Coffeyville, Kansas and worked at Continental Can during this time he met the love of his life, Saundra Hastings and they were united in marriage on September 27, 1957. The couple made their home in Liberty, Kansas where they operated the family farm until 1979. He drove trucks for ReCon and Whitwer Trucking until he worked with his brother, Homer Adams at Adams Heating and Air Conditioning. He retired in 1994 and remained on the family farm until 2014 when he moved to Nowata, Oklahoma.
Bill enjoyed farming, elk hunting in Colorado, rodeos, checking the weather and taking walks on his land.
Bill's memories will live on with his daughters, Sheila Russell and spouse Kelly, Audrey Burnett and spouse Greg; son, Dan Adams and spouse Robin; his brothers, Don Adams and spouse Kay, Dean Adams and spouse Mary Nell; and a sister in law, Helen Adams, grandchildren, Kristina and Mike Bedore, Kari and Daniel Chee, Kelly Ryan and Rio Russell, Kenny and spouse Brittany Russell, Whitney and Aaron Lyle, Kelsey and Devin Douglas, Chase, Brooke and Paige Adams; seven great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
Bill is now at rest with his beloved wife, Saundra of 60 years, his infant son, Chad, his parents, brothers, Hazen, Homer and Melvin Adams and a sister, Jewel Porter.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas with Reverend Dr. J. Dean McNamara of First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 15, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. The family suggest memorial contributions be made payable to American Legion Post 20 of Coffeyville, contributions may be left in care of the chapel.
