William Bill D. Strimple, Jr. 70, formerly of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 surrounded by his family at his home at Monkey Island on Grand Lake.
Bill was born on January 3, 1943 in Coffeyville, Kansas to William D. and Irene M. Heenan Strimple. Bill spent his life in the CoffeyvilleLiberty area, until retirement. Bill served his country in the National Guard Army earning the Rank of Sgt 1st Class until he was honorably discharged.
In November 1963 he was married to Kaylene Stong in Cherryvale, Kansas. Of that union two children were born, the couple later divorced.
On April 14, 1978 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Elaine Meek in Coffeyville, Kansas. Bill worked for Amerisign and Acme Foundry for 40 years as a supervisor. Following his retirement the couple moved to Grand Lake where they have enjoyed many years. He was a very fun loving person. He cared for his wife and adored his family. He enjoyed fishing, making fishing lures, traveling, collecting coins and trying his luck at the casinos. He will always be remembered by his family and friends for his general mischief. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed.
Surviving to honor his memory are his loving wife, June Elaine Strimple of the home his son, William Russ Strimple and partner, Cindy Williams of Neodesha, Kansas daughters, Lisa Conner and husband, Derrick of Coffeyville, Kansas, Kayna Wood of Springfield, Missouri sister, Deborah Smith of Coffeyville, Kansas sisterinlaw, Elaine Strimple of Afton, Oklahoma eight grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Irene brother, Lyman Dean Strimple and a brotherinlaw, Greg Smith.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas. Inurnment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Services will be officiated by his niece Linda Frazier.
Friends may call on Monday, October 21, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at FordWulfBruns Chapel to sign the guest register.
The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the Dalton Defender Days in care of Coffeyville Foundation these may also be left with the funeral home.
