Obituary Billie Doyle Bowman Billie Doyle Bowman, 72 of Coffeyville, passed away on June 3, 2006 at his residence in Coffeyville. He was born September 9, 1933 in Oologah, Oklahoma to William and Florence Marybell Salley Bowman. He attended rural schools in the Coffeyville area and was a 1951 graduate of Lenepah High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy Medical Corp serving from 1955 until 1957. He served eighteen months at Sasebo, Japan Medical Facility. On June 1, 1958 he married Charlotte LeClere in Coffeyville He attended Coffeyville Community Junior College, and graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Bill was registered to practice pharmacy in both Kansas and Oklahoma. He worked in Tulsa, Vinita and Independence before coming back to Coffeyville to work at the Prescription Shop. He owned and operated Fourth Street Pharmacy until it was destroyed by fire in 1976. He later worked at Revco and Med-Econ Pharmacies and retired after 17 years with Wal-Mart Pharmacy. He was a tribal member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and very proud of his Native American heritage. His lineage has been traced to Amatoya Moytoy, Supreme Chief of the Cherokee. Bill attended The Church at Rock Creek, rural Oklahoma, since he was nineteen years old. He had served as a Sunday school teacher. Survivors include his wife Charlotte Bowman of the home; daughters, Laura R. and Shannon Gay of rural Independence and Keri L. and Darrell Goebel of Lawrence, Kansas; brothers, Oscar Bowman of Neodesha, Kansas and Floyd Bowman of rural South Coffeyville, Oklahoma; sisters, Jennie Bowman of rural South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, Doris Lowrey of rural Coffeyville and Dora Bowman of rural South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. There are three granddaughters, Taylor D. Wood and Jessie N. Gay of rural Independence and Anne Marie Goebel of Lawrence, Kansas. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 7, 2006 in the Fairview Cemetery under the Veterans Pavilion. Pastor Edith Carter and Rhealda Cochrane will officiate. Friends may visit on Tuesday from 9 AM until 9 PM at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home. The family will greet friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
