Billy Joe Bean of Coffeyville passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011 at CRMC. He was 68. Bill was born on March 29, 1942 in Tyro, Kansas to Vernie and Tillie Shaw Bean. He grew up in Coffeyville where he received his education. He worked for Tony Moons Restaurant for five years, Acme Foundry for four years, Mullendore Ranch for a time. He operated heavy equipment and worked construction, helping build many area dams and lakes. On July 28, 1983 he was united in marriage to Lorene Ann Loomis in Nowata, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in rural Coffeyville. Bill and Lorene owned an operated Cattlemans Caf and BampJ Backhoe for many years. Together they operated Swingin B Ranch in Coffeyville and custom bailed hay for many years. Lorene preceded Bill in death on February 17, 2008. He enjoyed raising cows, riding horses, fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends. He liked to go to Shirleys and visit with friends over coffee. He is survived by his stepson, Jim Maritt and wife Janet of Edna, KS daughters, Joyce Fisher and husband, Roger, Becky Stapleton and husband, Jay all of Coffeyville brother, Bob Bean and wife, Virginia of Peru, KS eight grandchildren fourteen greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernie and Tillie an infant son, William Gordon Bean and loving wife, Lorene. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 28, 2011 at 10am at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville. Evangelist David Bycroft will officiate. Burial will follow at the Swingin B Ranch. Friends may call on Thursday, January 27, 2011 from 10am until 8pm at the funeral home to sign the guest register. Family will greet friends Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6pm until 8pm. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society. These may be left with the funeral home.
