Bill Bryant died on June 23, 2015 at the age of 83 at his home in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma.
Billy Dean Bryant was born Nov. 22, 1931 to Lee and Maudie Bryant. He graduated from Lenapah High School in 1950. He married his school sweetheart, Shirley Jean Downing, on October 17, 1951. They were married for 63 years and had 4 children, Deborah "Debbie", Patti, Sherri and Rick. They lived in South Coffeyville all of their life. Bill served his community in many ways. He was a South Coffeyville police officer, a South Coffeyville school board member and president, was active in the Lions Club, was a young men's Sunday school teacher and also coached and umpired little league baseball for many years. He was a longtime loyal fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, even sticking with them when the team moved from Brooklyn. During his working years, Bill was a truck driver, worked at Coffeyville Packing Plant, Butcher's Market, Morrow Foundry and Sherwin Williams. In his retirement, he took pride in working on his farm.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Bryant of the home; two children, Deborah Lee and husband, Bob, of South Coffeyville; Sherri Morgan and husband, Adrian, of Tyro, KS; two sisters, Dorothy Armstrong of Wichita, Kansas and Dixie Erne of Coffeyville, Kansas; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two children, Patti Lynn Bryant and Rick Bryant; and one sister, Virginia Bryant.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas. Pastor Joel Downing will officiate. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Family will greet friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
