Bonnie Loretta Martin, 81, of Liberty, Kansas died Saturday, June 14, 2008 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Bonnie was born on January 20, 1927 in Electra, Texas. She was the daughter of Robert L. and Mary Anice Richards Taylor. She graduated in 1944 from Weatherford High School in Texas. On November 15, 1948 she married Orla ElwinJunior Martin in Chicago, Illinois While Mr. Martin was serving in the United States Air Force, the family lived in many cities including Chicago, Illinois, Bossier City, Louisiana, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Cocoa Beach, Florida, Tucson, Arizona and Bethany, Oklahoma. Upon Mr. Martin39;s retirement from the FAA in 1974 they moved to the Martin family farm just north of Coffeyville. Bonnie was a lifelong homemaker. She also had worked briefly at Montgomery Wards store in Fort Worth, Texas, Read39;s Department store in Coffeyville and as a real estate agent in Bethany, Oklahoma. She also had an antique booth in Chetopa, Kansas. Bonnie was a member of the Methodist Church in Liberty, Kansas. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, fishing, carpentry, antiquing and long conversations with her sister Nita. She loved being remembered as a Texas Girl and really enjoyed sitting down with family members and going through her high school yearbook and reliving her memories of growing up in Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, O.E. Junior Martin; daughter, Marci Melissa Martin and brothers, Mickey Joe Taylor and Aron Bryant Taylor. Left to honor her memory are her daughters, Rebecca Anne Martin of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jeanne Renee Bever and husband Scott; grandsons Jason Bever and Lucas Bever of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; son, Mark Elwin Martin and wife Dot; grandsons Brian Martin of Midwest City, Oklahoma and Eric Martin of New York City, New York ; sister and Best Friend Nita Simpson of Weatherford, Texas and her entire extended Taylor family in Weatherford, Texas. Granny Martin will really be missed by her grandsons, Brian, Eric, Jason and Lucas. Granny always had a fresh plate of cookies ready for their visits and they thought she made the best chicken fried steak dinner in the world. She will be deeply missed by Dot who enjoyed the time spent with her talking and laughing together and always thought of her as MOM. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford Wulf Bruns Chapel with Pastor Bill Booe of the Liberty United Methodist Church of Liberty, Kansas, officiating. Interment will be at the Penwell-Gabel Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer39;s Association.
