Calvin E. Transue, 86, passed away on Tuesday, Feb 14, 2012 at Oswego Medical Center in Oswego, Kansas. Calvin was born on Feb 15, 1925 on a farm in Nowata County, Oklahoma to Charles Ordell Transue and Louisa Della France Transue. He entered active service August 19, 1943 as an Electric Crane Operator in the 592nd Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment as a Cargo Foreman 271. Calvin served in New Guinea Southern PhilippinesPacific Theater. He was later assigned to duty in Seoul, Korea and completed his service obligation. Decorations awarded to Calvin include the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze stars, WWII Victory Medal, Bronze Service Arrowhead Pacific Theater, and the Good Conduct Medal. Calvin was separated from service in January of 1946. On June 2, 1947 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Jo Evelyn Goodson in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in the Angola, Kansas area where he worked for Jensen Farm as a herdsman. Calvin also worked as a molder for Acme Foundry and also farmed. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working with horses and cattle. Most of all he enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends. Surviving to honor his memory are his daughter, Linda Driskill of Coffeyville and companion, Greg Roberts sons, Tom Transue of Grand Lake, Jerry Transue of Coffeyville, Jim Transue of Liberty and wife, Cathy, Tim Transue of Coffeyville, Donald Transue of Pheonix and companion, Diana Conklin brother, Leo Transue of Sedan sister, Ruth Ames of Valeda several grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Louisa loving wife, Jo five sisters and one brother. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 11 a.m. at North Edna Cemetery in Edna, Kansas. Military honors will be provided by the VFW Post 1022 and the American Legion Post 20. Friends may call on Friday, February 17, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas to sign the guest register. Family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society these may be left with the funeral home.
