Carl Bridges, Sr.

Carl Edward Bridges, Sr., 46, Coffeyville, KS died early Tuesday morning, September 8, 2009 at his home. Carl was born September 20, 1962 at Jacksonville, FL to Jeremiah Bridges, Sr. and Martha Starnes Bridges. He grew up in several different locations as his father was stationed in various ports as a member of the U.S. Navy. Carl graduated from Coffeyvilles Field Kindley High School, where he played high school football. He lived in Corpus Christi, Texas before moving back to Coffeyville 18 years ago. Carl married Mary Anna Thompson on October 2, 1998 at Miami, Oklahoma. He had worked as a med-tech for the Hays House Care Center of Nowata, Oklahoma; security guard for Burns Security and as a stockman for Wal-Mart. He was a member of Coffeyvilles Lewark Church of God. Carl enjoyed card games and playing video games with the kids. He loved all kinds of music, especially Elvis and was an avid NASCAR fan. Survivors include his wife, Anna of the home; three sons, Christopher and Carl Bridges, Jr. of the home and Michael Bridges of Elk City, Kansas; four daughters, Crystal Bridges of Coffeyville; Carla and Michaela of the home and Brittany Enloe of Coffeyville; one brother, Jeremiah Bridges, Jr. of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; a sister, Crystal Todd of Joplin, Missouri and one grandson, Clyde Edward Bridges. Carl was preceded in death by both parents. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Friday at Lewark Church of God with Pastor Josh Thayer officiating. Private family inurnment will take place in Penwell-Gabels Restlawn Cemetery. The family requests donations may be made to the Carl Bridges, Sr. Fund in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
