Carl Richard Rauch

 Carl Richard Rauch died Thursday, the 24th of October 2024 in Coffeyville, Kansas. He was 93 years of age.

He was the fourth son born to Harold Benton Rauch and Fern Rachel (Young) Rauch on August 10th, 1931 in Coffeyville. Carl attended Garfield grade school, Roosevelt Junior High, and FKHS, graduating in 1949. His education continued at CCJC, then graduating from Kansas State University in 1953 with a degree in animal husbandry. As the Korean conflict was ending, he served two years in the Army. While still in the Army, he married Lavona (Bonnie) Morris on July 8th, 1954 in Coffeyville. Carl loved the outdoors and farming. They started married life on a farm North of Coffeyville. He farmed and worked at the Continental Can for a time before starting work at the CO-OP refinery in 1959. In the Spring of 1961, a flood forced them to move into town; never moving back to the farm. Carl retired from the refinery at age 60, enjoying another 33 years of retirement. He and his wife, Bonnie, loved traveling, visiting all of the lower 48 states. They also enjoyed daily lunches with their friends, the "Lunch Bunch" at Sirloin Stockade for many years. He was always learning something new and attended many CCC night classes. He enjoyed blacksmithing, broom making, taxidermy, history, and genealogy research.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Rebecca Griffiths, Karla Cambron (Joel), and Ralph Rauch (Rebecca). Grandchildren Isaac Cambron (Anjali), Isaiah Cambron (Alyssa), and Rachel Wagenknecht (Xavier). Great grandchildren Quasar, Phoenix, Raiden and Rigel Cambron, Naomi and Lila Cambron, and William Wagenknecht. He also leaves behind one sister-in-law Bobbie Needham of Tulsa and many nieces and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, and his wife Bonnie. Also, brothers Harold Jr., Eldon, James, one son-in-law Paul Griffiths Jr (Rick), and four sisters-in-law, Rubye, Joan, M. Joan, and Charlotte.

Funeral service celebrating Carl’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 2pm at First Southern Baptist Church, 2701 W 8th St, Coffeyville, KS with Pastor Matt Friese officiating. Carl will be laid to rest next to Bonnie in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in a private family graveside service. 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 5 to 7pm at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., in Coffeyville. For those may choose to make contributions in Carl’s memory the family has designated First Southern Baptist Church or Coffeyville Historical Society, contributions may be left in care of the chapel.
