Carlene Crystal Lembeck, 81, Coffeyville, Kansas, died Thursday afternoon, January 13, 2011 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. Carlene was born June 4, 1929 at Coffeyville to Elton Lee Eye, Sr. and Ethel Jane Harrison Eye. She grew up in the DelawareLenapah area of northeastern Oklahoma, attending school at Lenapah until her senior year. Carlene transferred to Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville and graduated there. While in high school she worked for Newberrys. On June 12, 1947, Carlene married Joseph William Lembeck at Delaware, Oklahoma. Mr. Lembeck preceded his wife on July 12, 1999. The Lembecks farmed near Lenapah for 25 years, before moving to Hepler, Kansas. In Hepler, Joe worked as a logger and Carlene operated a caf as well as cooking for Heritage Nursing Home in Girard, Kansas. The couple moved to Coffeyville in 1986, where she continued to work as a cook for Colonial Nursing Home now Regal of Independence and Medicalodge East of Coffeyville. Carlene was a member of the Hepler United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and served as Sunday School Superintendent. She also held membership at the Methodist churches in Lenapah and South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. Carlene loved to sew and make things for her family and enjoyed canning. She spent her time scrapbooking, knitting and crocheting and spending time with her friends onTuesday Game Day. Carlene had served as Superintendent of Home Management for the Nowata County Fair and always had several entries in the fair exhibits. While in Hepler, she was active in EHU and 4H and was current President of the Bellevue OCE when she passed. Survivors are one daughter, Karen Roush and her husband, Jamie of Coffeyville a sister, Norma Walker of Bartlesville, Oklahoma one grandson, Tyler Joseph Roush of Coffeyville sisterinlaw, Mary Ellen Eye of Angola, Kansas and her beloved dog, Gretchen. She was preceded in death by her parents by her husband, Joe by a brother, Elton Lee Eye, Jr. and by two sisters, Ann Shaw and Leaella Ross. Funeral services will be 2p.m., Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel with Rev. Stephen Posey officiating. Interment will be in the Robbins Cemetery, west of Coffeyville, under the direction of PenwellGabel Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday, 9am8pm, with the family receiving guests from 68pm. Donations are suggested to the South Coffeyville Methodist Church and may be left with the funeral home.
