Carvel Ellison Schenck 1925 2007 Coffeyville resident since 1968, Carvel Ellison Schenck entered into internal rest on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at his residence. He was 82. Carvel was born March 31, 1925 in Edna, Kansas to Clifton and Dica Oldham Schenck. He was a graduate of Altamont High School. Carvel entered the Army Air Force in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas in 1943. He served in WWII, Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired from the US Air Force June 1, 1968 with the rank of Master Sergeant. On February 23, 1945 he married Reba Whetstine in Coffeyville, Kansas. She preceded him in death on February 17, 1999. Upon returning to Coffeyville Carvel was employed with Olin-Dixon, Stapletons as a General Manager, Funk Manufacturing and Parmac all of Coffeyville. He was a member of the VFW Post 1022 of Coffeyville. Carvel was baptized into Christ in the First United Methodist Church. Hobbies include: Music he could play any instrument, woodworking, fishing, hunting, sports and most of all spending time with his granddaughter, Leslie. Survivors include: one daughter, Lois Hendrix of Coffeyville; one granddaughter, Leslie Hendrix of Scottsdale, Arizona. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ronald Schenck, 3 brothers, Clifford, Earl and Clarence Schenck. Visitation calling hours: Mr. Schenck will lie in state on Monday, May 14, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel with Fr. Jerry Adinolfi of the St. Pauls Episcopal Church officiating. Burial will follow in the North Edna Cemetery, Edna, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to the Coffeyville Senior ServicesMeals on Wheels co Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
