Catherine Holmes

Catherine Holmes of Coffeyville passed away Sunday, October 17, 2010 in Baldwin City, Kansas. She was 84. Catherine was born March 6, 1926 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Alvin and Maude Epperly Antle. She grew up in Coffeyville where she received her high school education. On March 8, 1945 she was united in marriage to Roland Holmes the couple made their home in Coffeyville where Catherine spent her time as a home maker. Roland preceded her in death in 1974. She then worked as a purchasing clerk for the local college and also as a sales clerk for Reads and JC Pennys. She enjoyed studying her bible, gardening, playing cards with a group of friends and most of all attending her grand and greatgrandchildrens activities. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville. She mastered the computer and loved staying in touch with friends and family. She is survived by her son, Roland Holmes Jr. and wife Leslie of Soso, Mississippi daughter, Kathy Hoffman and husband Jerry of Baldwin City, Kansas brother, John Antle and wife Jean of Mulvane, Kansas sister, Dorothy Kimbrel of Independence, Kansas six grandchildren sixteen greatgrandchildren and two greatgreatgrandchildren. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Maude loving husband, Roland daughter, Connie Holmes and brothers, Earl, Harold, Junior and Don Antle. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville, Kansas at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Brad Sanders will officiate. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville.
