Cecil Glenn Taylor of rural South Coffeyville, Oklahoma entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 in Vinita, Oklahoma. He was 81. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday April 19, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas. Brother Lester Orwig of the Talala Baptist Church will officiate. Internment will follow at the North Edna Cemetery in Edna, Kansas. Friends may call on Friday, April 18, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Ford Wulf Bruns Chapel to sign the guest register. Family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Memorials can be made to the American Legion or the Blue Star Mothers these may be left with the Funeral Home. Cecil was born July 15, 1926 in Wimer, Oklahoma to John Fredrick and Lula Gertrude Stepp Taylor. He grew up in the Wimer District area and graduated from Edna High School in 1943. He attended one year of college in Chanute, Kansas, then graduated Spartan School of Aeronautics. Cecil served in the Army Air Corp and was a veteran of World War II. On August 20th, 1950 he married Treva Louise Schultz in Chetopa, Kansas. They made their home in rural South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. Cecil was a rancher and a retired USDA livestock inspector. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion in Coffeyville, Kansas and formerly served as the Post Commander. He enjoyed going out on his four-wheeler to check cattle, watching western movies, and fishing trips to Alaska and Las Vegas, Nevada. He enjoyed the fellowship of his friends at the American Legion Post 20. Cecil is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Treva of the home; son, Michael Glenn Taylor Malinda of Talala, Oklahoma; daughters, Deborah Louise Wayman Doug of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Glesnore Leah Doyle Bob of Gardnerville, Nevada, Glenda Taylor Clukey Terry of Tulsa, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one nephew; five nieces; sisters, Berietha Seals of rural South Coffeyville, Oklahoma and LaVena Longwith of Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, George Henry Taylor.
