Charles Pierson

Charles "Jay" Pierson, 63 years of age, passed away peacefully at his home in Coffeyville January 18, 2017.

Jay was born December 5, 1953 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to Oren Johnnie and Charlie Maud Pierson. Jay lived in West, Texas and Hobbs, New Mexico until 1968. The family moved to Springdale, Arkansas, where he graduated from high school in 1972. Jay moved to Coffeyville in 1977 and met Gayle Marie Rauscher in 1978. The two were married June 16, 1979 and had two Children. Jay's son, Matthew Charles Pierson, is married to Toni Lynn Pierson, and Jay's daughter, Amy Marie Murphy, is married to Troy Murphy. Jay's grandchildren are Alayna Murphy and Axel Pierson. Other family members include, siblings Becky Powell and Julie Turner of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Angie and Mike Toney of Springdale, Arkansas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Jay loved playing, and later watching sports. He would watch any game with a ball, but loved to cheer for KU basketball and the Dallas Cowboys. He worked at The Optic Shop from 1977 - 1990 and then at ACME Foundry until 2014, when he retired due to health reasons.

Honoring Jay's wishes, cremation under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel has taken place. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on January 28, 2017 at 10:00am at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, located at 7th and Elm, Coffeyville, KS. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or St. Paul's Episcopal Church and they may be sent in care of the Chapel.
