Charley James Atterberry 1925 - 2006 Charley James Atterberry, age 80, rural Niotaze, Kansas resident, passed away on February 14, 2006 at his residence. He was born May 30, 1925 to James Howard Atterberry amp; Pearlie Mae Pearson Atterberry in Grove, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Navy with the Seabees Unit during WWII in the South Pacific. He worked for National Zinc in Bartlesville, Oklahoma where he retired from in 1987 after 41 years of service; Also worked in Construction in the Bartlesville area where he built many area homes. He was also a rancher. Mr. Atterberry was a member of the Caney First Baptist Church. On January 9, 1946 he married Ramona E. Cornejo in Sedan, Kansas. She preceded him in death July 30, 1983. On January 3, 1984 he married Sue Wright in Caney, Kansas. She survives of the home in rural Niotaze. Other survivors include: One daughter, Barbara Paul Joe of Bartlesville, OK; Two grandchildren, Chuck Paul, Fort Scott, KS; and Kevin Paul Robbin Wylie, Tx; Three great grandchildren, Alex Paul, Bryan Paul, Mykah Paul. One step-son Ed Wright Mary, Havana, Ks.; One step-daughter, Nancy Cummins Scott, Bartlesville, OK., Six step grandchildren, Calvin Wright, Crystal Cummins, Candace Cummins, Cody Wright, Chrissy Wright, David Wright. Three step great granddaughters, Allyson amp; Madison Cummins, Alexis Wright. Two sisters, Della Lowen Cleo, Dewey, OK.; Leota Allen, Ramona, OK.; Several nieces and nephews He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Ethel Beard, Betty Phillips. Calling hours visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at the Penwell-Gabel Graves of Caney, 107 N. State Street, Caney, KS. 67333 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2006 at the Caney First Baptist Church, Caney, Kansas. Pastor Dan DeWitt will be presiding. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Niotaze, Kansas. Fort Riley Big Red One will conduct Military Rites.
