Chester W.Jake Gilfillan, 66 of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville. Jake was born on October 29, 1941 in Coffeyville, the son of David C. and Helen V. Battaglear Gilfillan. He grew up and attended schools in Coffeyville. Following high school, in 1958 Jake enlisted in the U.S. Army and served our country for 2 years. In 1962, Jake was united in marriage to Bonnie Sue Romines in Coffeyville. They had two children, Tammy Sue and Jake William. They
orced in 1966. Jake was employed by Jencast of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma for 25 years. Survivors include his children, Tammy Meshintubby and Jake Gilfillan, both of Coffeyville; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Shere and husband, Gene of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma and brother, John Gilfillan and wife, Sherry of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Gilfillan. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at Robbins Cemetery, West of Coffeyville, Kansas. Friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to the American Cancer Society in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
