Christena Kimrey

Christena Elizabeth Kimrey Age 91, of Welch, Oklahoma died Wednesday morning, March 16, 2005 at Craig General Hospital, Vinita, Oklahoma. Mrs. Kimrey was born June 16, 1913 in Miami, Oklahoma to William Grant and Minerva Catherine White Jameson. She had lived in the Welch area since she was age 6. Mrs. Kimrey graduated from Welch High School in 1948 and attended one year of college in Miami. She married Hugh Underwood Gunn in 1950; he preceded her in death in 1958. She later married O.F. Smokey Kimrey in 1958. He also precedes her in death on October 2, 1989. Mrs. Kimrey was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of rural Welch. She is survived by: one stepson, Jake Kimrey, of Welch, OK one stepdaughter, Elberta M. Deaton, of Frankfort, KY two nephews, Joe and John Herman, of Lincoln, NE five stepgrandchildren. Mrs. Kimrey is also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Icye Herman. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, March 18 at the First Baptist Church followed by burial in North Edna Cemetery, both of Edna, Kansas. Reverend David Warren will officiate. Friends may call at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel Thursday, 4 until 8 p.m. Family will receive guests Thursday evening 7 until 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Edna Library, for large print books. These gifts may be left at the funeral home or at the Edna Library.
