Clara Audrey Maggard, 93, Coffeyville, died Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Windsor Place Care Center, Coffeyville. Clara was born September 1, 1916 at Wettington, Arkansas to Edmund Wise and Ethel Roberts Wise. She grew up in NW Arkansas around Wettington, Siloam Springs, Fayetteville and Bentonville. Clara married Emanuel William Maggard in July of 1933. Mr. Maggard preceded his wife in death in December of 1983. The Maggards lived in NW Arkansas and NE Oklahoma for a time, moving to Bentonville while Mr. Maggard pastured the Assembly of God church, there. The couple moved to San Jose, California in 1943, before moving to Coffeyville in 1948. Clara was a homemaker most of her life, but had also worked for Roys Restaurant in Coffeyville. She was a member of the Coffeyville First Assembly of God and spent time every day and night in prayer and reading the Bible. Clara enjoyed baking and sewing and was very particular about the dishes being clean and everything tidy. She was also a very independent woman. Survivors include two sons, Emanuel W. Maggard, Jr. and his wife, Cathy of Portland, Oregon and Buddy Maggard and his wife, Edith of Hippo, Kentucky three daughtersinlaw, Connie Maggard of Portland, Stella Maggard of Topeka, Kansas and Janice Maggard of Tulsa, Oklahoma 15 grandchildren many greatgrandchildren and several greatgreatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents by her husband by three sons, Kenneth, who died in 2005, Harold in 2006 and Ronald in 2007 she was also preceded by four brothers, Pascal, Velmar, Millard and Leonard Wise. Graveside services were held 2pm, Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Randy DePriest, officiating. Service and interment are under the direction of PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel. Family suggests memorial donations to First Assembly of God and donations can be left at the funeral home.
