Clarence Blevins

Clarence Leonard Blevins, 89, of Coffeyville, Kansas died May 6, 2009 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. He was born April 4, 1920 in Maurine, Missouri to George Homer and Sarah Ellen Eli Blevins. Clarence attended school in Maurine Missouri, Coffeyville and graduated in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. On April 3, 1942 he married Doris Nadine Higginson at Independence, Kansas. They later
orced. He served in the US Coast Guard during WWII and then worked in the Coffeyville area retiring from the Co-op. Clarence loved attending several area churches and reading and studying his bible. He loved to travel and lived in Las Vegas, California, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arizona and Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Omer Lee Blevins. Survivors include; sons Thomas Wayne and Delores Blevins and James Dean and Beverly Blevins of Coffeyville, grandsons Tracy Blevins of Coffeyville and Jamie and Patty Blevins of Independence, Kansas, granddaughters Cindy and David Neises of Independence, Darla and Jeremy Samples of Coffeyville, Julie and Jason Cowles of Topeka, Kansas and Shannon Carriker of Coffeyville, great-grandchildren Derek and Corey Reyes, Wyatt, Miguel and Cinthya Blevins of Independence, Ethan and Hannah Samples, Dawson and Damon Carriker of Coffeyville, Kierstyn, Ashleigh, Makaylah and Kaden Cowles of Topeka. Clarence Blevins will be interred at Restlawn Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas. Friends may pay their respects at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas on Friday, May 8, 2009 from noon until 7:00 p.m. Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home of Coffeyville, Kansas is in charge of arrangements.
