ClarencePete Lavern Hill, 76, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Pete was born on August 3, 1935 in Centralia, Oklahoma to Benjamin and Bessie Mae Elder Hill. He grew up in the Centralia, Oklahoma area where he attended local schools. On August 3, 1957 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Patricia Drews at the United Methodist Church in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. Pete had worked at Parmac, Jensen, Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas and for Charles Wheatly for 18 years in the machine shop until his retirement in the early 1990s. But above all others, Pete was a rancher who tended to his cattle. He was an exceptional man, hard worker, and a perfectionist. He was looked up to by many and remembered for his big heart. Pete enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, roping and rodeos. He loved watching the kids in the rodeos and going to Cavalcade in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. Surviving to honor his memory are his wife, Patricia of the home sons, Michael Hill and wife, Donna, Bennie Hill and wife Terri all of S. Coffeyville, Oklahoma daughters, Cheryl Hill and companion, Terri Hobbs of Skiatook Lake Area in Oklahoma, Regina Harkrader and husband, Randal of Fredonia, Kansas brothers, RichardStarchy Hill of S. Coffeyville, Oklahoma, Billy Hill and wife, Connie of Collinsville, Oklahoma sisters, Anna Mae Benjamin and husband, Benny of Tyro, Kansas, LaHonda Choate and husband, Ron of Vinita, Oklahoma six grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Bessie Mae son, Timothy Lavern Hill and brothers, Charles and James Hill. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at North Edna Cemetery in Edna, Kansas. Friends may call on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville to sign the guest register. The family will greet friends Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society these may be left with the funeral home.
