Clela Mae Butler, age 85, of Rowlett, Texas, formerly of Tulsa, and Coffeyville, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at her daughters home in Rowlett, Texas.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the FordWulfBruns Chapel with the Chaplain Mike Graham of Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the FordWulfBruns Chapel.
Clela was born January 20, 1927 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Isaac and Hazel Mae Cook. She grew up in Coffeyville, Kansas and graduated from the Coffeyville High School. On December 1, 1945 Clela married James F. Butler in Coffeyville, Kansas. During his career in the Air Force they made their home throughout the United States and overseas including Guam and France. In 1965 the couple moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. James preceded her in death on August 3, 1990. Clela has lived with her daughter in Rowlett, Texas the last five years.
Clela worked at the Airbase before she was married to James and also was a showgirl on the USO Shows traveling around the Pacific. As the children were growing up Clela loved to help with all of the childrens activities including dances, hayrides, girl scout events and watching Robert play Baseball.
Survivors include her daughter Carol Matthews, Grandchildren Cathy Hanson and Chris Delk and great grandchildren Michael Delk, Erika Delk, Nicholas Delk, Andy Hanson, James Hanson, Jack Hanson and Emily Hanson. She was preceded in death by her husband James, one son Robert Butler, siblings Leona Wooten, Maxine Lay, Charles Cook and Naomi Browing.
