Cleo L. Allison, 85, of Coffeyville, Kansas formerly of Caney, Kansas passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012. Cleo was born on July 7, 1926 in Caney, Kansas to Joe and Anna Hanson Allison. He grew up in Caney where he received his education. On August 13, 1949 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Vergie Robison in El Dorado, Kansas. The couple made their home in Caney where they were members of the First Baptist Church. Cleo worked for Leavenworth Steel as a Construction Welder working as a Boiler Maker. He will be remembered as a very hard worker. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 324 of Caney he was also a member of the Mirza Shrine. He enjoyed music and playing many kinds of instruments, dancing and playing music for the local dances. He taught both his girls how to dance. He loved to travel cross country in his mobile home with Vergie. Most of all he enjoyed the time he spent with his family. Surviving to honor his memory is his loving wife, Vergie of the home daughters, Martha Rathbun Robert of Caney, Kansas, Patricia Allison of Coffeyville, Kansas four grandchildren and ten greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Anna daughter, Janet Allison brothers, Elmer, Mandis and Eric Allison sister, Virginia Feeler and a grandson, Jason Kniffen. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Caney First Baptist Church. Pastor DeWitt will officiate. Internment will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney, Kansas. Masonic Rites will be provided by the Masonic Lodge 324 of Caney, Kansas. Friends may call on Monday, May 28, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas to sign the guest register. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Society these may be left with the funeral home.
