Clyde Ivey, Sr.

Clyde Morgan Ivey, Sr., 70, Coffeyville, Kansas, died Wednesday morning, January 5, 2011 at his home after an extended illness. Clyde was born Christmas Day, 1940 at Stigler, Oklahoma to Morgan Ivey ad Mollie Murray Ivey. He moved from Stigler at an early age and grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, graduating from Central High School in 1959, where he was known as a great, sidearmed pitcher. Clyde married Cornelia Lucas in 1961 at Tulsa. They would later divorce. He later married Carolyn Petersen on June 1, 1970 at Tulsa. They too, would later divorce. Clyde attended Northeastern State University at Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He later moved back to Tulsa and went to work for Klockner Moeller. Clyde moved to Independence, Kansas in 1994 and to Coffeyville in the late 1990s. He worked as a CMACNA while in Coffeyville and retired last year from Windsor Place Care Center. He enjoyed volunteer work with Relay for Life and the American Red Cross. Clyde enjoyed watching westerns on TV and reading westerns, especially those by Louis LAmour. But, he is mostly remembered for being a great Dad. Survivors are two sons, ClydeBud Ivey, Jr. and his wife, Penny of Independence, Kansas and David M. Ivey of Coffeyville one daughter, Barbara L. Carnagey of Independence two stepdaughters, Shannon Daggett of Big Cabin, Oklahoma and Tamatha Lynn Patterson and her husband, Mike of Tulsa one brother, Thomas J. Ivey of Dwight, Illinois one sister, Ann Wicker of Tulsa 12 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents by a stepson, Jerry W. Ivey in 1987 and by a brother, John Ivey. Clyde will be cremated and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held, 2 p.m., Monday, January 10, 2011 at Coffeyvilles First Church of God with Pastor Mark Wilson, officiating.
