Clyde Koger

Clyde Koger, a long-time resident of Tyro, KS passed away on April 28, 2007 at the age of 86. Clyde was born at the family farm northwest of Tyro, Kansas to William and Mollie Brown Koger on February 24, 1921. Clyde is survived by his wife of 64 years, Allene Swank; his son, Ronald and wife, Cheryl, of Candor, NY; and daughter, Bonita Allison and husband, Larry, of Surprise, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Helen. Clyde attended the Judea Country School and graduated from the Tyro High School and also from Coffeyville Junior College. He served in the U.S. Army, 113th Signal Corp at Camp Crowder, MO. He enjoyed hishobby of farming and also worked in various aircraft industries, i.e., Boeing Corporation of Wichita, Lockheed of California, Continental Can Company of Coffeyville, and later retiring from North American in Tulsa. After retiring, he and his wife enjoyed RV traveling and seeing all the states, including two trips to Alaska and a trip across Canada. Many winters were spent in South Texas and Padre Island. They also enjoyed travels to Hawaii and Europe. Clyde was a member of the Tyro Christian Church where for many years he had been a Sunday School teacher and served as an Elder. Mr. Koger was 50 year member of the Caney Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed life on the farm outside of Tyro, but due to failing health, moved to Surprise, AZ in October, 2005, to be near his daughter. Visitation calling hours: Mr. Koger will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel on Thursday, May 3, 2007. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at the Tyro Christian Church on Friday, 2:00 p.m., May 4, 2007. Pastor David Bycroft will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Fawn Creek Cemetery N.E. of Tryo. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of the Valley, 9720 W.
