Former Coffeyville resident, Dale O. Blakslee entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 in Grove, Oklahoma. He was 85. Dale was born August 4, 1922 in Coffeyville to Ora Bert and Mary Margaret Maxwell Blakslee. He grew up and attended schools in Coffeyville and graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School. He entered the United States Marine Corps during WWII, serving in several locations in the Southern Pacific Islands. He married Jean Cole Elliott on June 26, 1982 in Norwalk, California. He worked as a machinist for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Corporation in Long Beach for many years. The couple made their home in California until 1992 when they moved to the Grove, Oklahoma area. Dale was a Ham Radio operator and he enjoyed sports, camping, fishing and traveling. He was a member of the Moose Lodge - Grove Chapter. He is survived by his wife, Jean, of the home; sons, Larry Blakslee of Indio, CA and Ronnie Blakslee and wife, Barbara of San Migel, CA; daughter, Marsha Johnston of Downey, CA; step-sons, Linn Elliot and wife, Twana of Pheonix, AZ and Ken Elliot and wife, Janet of Santa Ana, CA; brother, John Blakslee of Coffeyville; sister in-law, Betty Johnston of Tehachapi, CA; thirteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Nellie Blakslee in 1973; two brothers, three half-brothers and one half-sister. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Chaplain Larry Hendren will officiate. Friends may call on Friday, October 12, 2007 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel to sign the guest register. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association. These may be left with the funeral home.
