Daniel Groves

Daniel Groves, 93, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on May 25, 2015 at Hillcrest Medical Center Heart Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Daniel was born on May 14, 1922 in Coffeyville, Kansas to D.M. and Mildrew Hannah (Pinegar) Groves. Daniel grew up in the rural Coffeyville area attended the Keene Elementary School, he later obtained his GED. Daniel served in the United State Army from December 30th 1942 to February 2nd 1946. He was a part of the 487th Antiaircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion. At the time of his honorable discharge he was a Private First Class.

On February 21, 1948, Daniel married Dorothy L. Lewis, making their home in Coffeyville, Kansas. She preceded him in death on December 17, 2002. Of that union three children were born, son, Danny; daughters, Anna and Carolyn. On January 18, 2005 he married his wife, Betty L. Groves in Miami, Oklahoma also making Coffeyville their home. She preceded him in death on May 11, 2015.
Daniel worked as a foreman at the Coffeyville Packing Company where he retired. Daniel enjoyed woodworking. He was also a long time member of Central Church of the Nazarene in Coffeyville.

Surviving to honor his memory is his son, Danny Groves and wife, Janet of Allen, Texas; Carolyn Christmas and husband, Jeff of Georgetown, Georgia, Anna Groves and partner, Randi Wallin of Houston, Texas; step daughter, Connie Privitt and husband, Sam of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; twelve step great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wives he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph and a sister, Anna.

Graveside Services to celebrate the life of Daniel Groves will be held on Friday, May 29, 2015 at the Veteran's Memorial Patio at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from noon to 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
