Daniel Thrower

Daniel Lee Thrower age 80 formerly of Coffeyville passed away on August 20, 2018 in Topeka, Kansas.

Daniel was born on June 14, 1938 in Charlotte, North Carolina to Charles Brady and Joy Lenoir (Smith) Thrower. After graduating high school he served proudly in the US Navy aboard the USS Salisbury Sound AV-13, did his training in California and later stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Daniel loved his Lord and became a youth minister and later an associate pastor. He studied at Beth Haven in Louisville, KY and had many adventures with churches in Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and New York.

On April 4, 1962 Daniel married his beautiful bride, Syble Virginia Kelly in South Carolina. The couple were blessed with sharing 50 wonderful loving years together, they made their home in North Carolina before moving to Coffeyville, Kansas in June of 2012. Through better or worse, sickness and health Daniel and Syble had been through a lot together. Daniel stood right by his wife as she was diagnosed with breast cancer, went into remission for 5 years and had it reoccur in July 2012, she fought as hard as she could but on November 26, 2012 lost her battle. Daniel later met and married Mary Cupp of Topeka still of the home.
Daniel was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. While living in North Carolina whenever he could he would pick up his rod and reel and head for the beach to do pier fishing and a two times he was able to enjoy deep sea fishing expedition. While living in New York often times the New Yorkers had a hard time understanding that Southern Accent and some of the southern words that they had never heard, he would say "do you want a whippin" meaning spanking and that all favorite "ya'll".

Daniel was full of life and energy and would do anything to help whomever he could. Despite the challenges he endured with his left leg that eventually led to the amputation of his leg, he continued to extend a helping hand.

Cherished memories continue to live in those he loved dearly, his wife Mary Thrower; his daughters, Joy Thrower-Foster of Charlotte, NC, Renee and her husband Scott Lazenby and Tamara Douglas all of Coffeyville, KS; brother, Charles Robert Thrower and his wife Patricia Ann of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Jeremey Stallings and his wife Juanita of Charlotte, NC, Ella Crystal and John Daniel Lazenby of Coffeyville, KS; great grandchildren, Caleb and Hunter Stallings of Charlotte, NC and Reighlyn Lazenby of Coffeyville, KS; nieces, Teresa Thrower and Lynn Thrower both of Charlotte, NC; grand-nephews, Brady, Samuel and William all of Charlotte, NC.
