Davis Owens

Davis Dean Owens, age 79 of rural Coffeyville, Kansas died Friday, November 29, 2013 at the Medical Lodge in Coffeyville, Kansas.

Davis Dean Owens was born January 13, 1934 in Talala, Oklahoma area to Norman Oscar and Wilma Pauline Ramsey Owens. He grew up in the Copan and Wann, Oklahoma area and graduated from the Wann High School in 1952. Dave also graduated from the Coffeyville Community Junior College in 1954 with an associate of arts degree in preengineering. He also attended Oklahoma A M University in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

On September 6, 1968 Dave married JoAnn Avery in Coffeyville, Kansas the couple made their home in rural Coffeyville, Muskogee, Oklahoma, Snyder, Texas and Hutchinson, Kansas before returning to Coffeyville in 1999 after his retirement from Hutchinson Salt Mine as a maintenance manager. Dave worked at Sherwin Williams in Coffeyville for 12 years.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years two sons Brandon Owens and wife Janice of Independence, Kansas and David Owens and wife Becky of Wichita, Kansas one daughter Robin Kaminska and husband Chuck Kaminska of Tyro, Kansas one sister Alice Egbert of Kansas City, Missouri 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Jim Owens and Norman Owens and one sister Norma Stevens.

Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the FordWulfBruns Chapel with David Thomas officiating. Cremation has taken place inurnment at Fawn Creek Cemetery will be at a later date.
