Dennis Garr

Dennis Wayne Garr age 63 of Springdale, AR passed away July 1, 2021 at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, AR.

Dennis was born on September 4, 1957 in Coffeyville, KS to Steve and Betty (Pittman) Garr. He was raised in Coffeyville and attended local schools graduating from Field Kindley High School with the class of ‘75. He then attended Coffeyville Junior College where he met the love of his life: Sheryl Manley. The couple was united in marriage on August 8, 1976 and would enjoy the next 44 years together. Dennis continued his education at Kansas State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree. They made Dewey, OK their home where Dennis began working as an agent with the 4-H Extension then transferring to Great Falls, MT, then North Carolina where they were blessed with the birth of their son Andy. The three then moved to Stillwater, OK where Dennis earned his master’s degree from Oklahoma State University, and they were blessed with the birth of their second son, Dillon. The family would then move to Nevada, MO before calling Springdale, AR home, where Dennis was currently managing the Orscheln’s Farm and Home.

Dennis loved being a dad and keeping up with his boys made him complete. Even though Dennis lived in many places, he always found his family to be his home. Having spent much of his life working in western stores, building custom cowboy hats, and team roping in his youth, his wardrobe was consistent: he wore jeans and boots no matter the occasion, even on the beach or at the lake. He was quick with a joke and anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him would agree he was a good, kind-hearted man. His life was a living example of Ephesians 4:32 - “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” Dennis’ smile, laugh, and pleasant disposition were infectious and will be greatly missed by those blessed enough to have experienced them during his life.

Those who will miss Dennis most is his wife Sheryl of the home, his sons, Andy Garr his wife Jessica of Edwardsville, IL, and Dillon Garr his wife Amanda of Springtown, TX, his brother Bill Garr his wife Misty of DeLeon, TX, his sister Cathy Cain her husband Eddie of St. Pauls, NC, granddaughters Kailey and Riley Garr of Edwardsville, IL, mother-in-law Judy Manley of Afton, OK, brother-in-law Barry Manley and family of Topeka, KS, and sister-in-law Joyce Helms and family of Webb City, MO.

He now rests with his parents and his father-in-law, Bennie Manley.
