Dolretta Pyatt Woodard, 92, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Friday, February 3, 2012 at CRMC in Coffeyville, Kansas. Mrs. Woodard was born August 16, 1919 in Osawatomie, Kansas to Edward A.Doc and Hazel Frybarger Pyatt. In 1921 the family moved to Coffeyville where she attended school, graduating from Field Kindley in 1937. She attended the local college for one year and then went to work for a lawyer. She then worked for the Coffeyville Mercantile Company and later for the Taylor Bag Company. On January 1, 1940, she married Joe C. Woodard in Coffeyville where they made their home until 1952 when they moved to Phillips, Texas where they both worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. Mr. Woodard retired in 1969 and they returned to Coffeyville for a short time before moving to Bella Vista, Arkansas where they enjoyed golfing, fishing and the beautiful country. Survivors include her grandson, Aaron Woodard and wife Denise of Spring Hill, Kansas great grandchildren, Austin and Madelyn Woodard also of Spring Hill, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Hazel loving husband, Joe and a son, Robert C. Woodard. Mrs. Woodard was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a charter member of the Borger, Texas chapter ofDesk Derrick and Coffeyville chapter ofDaughters of the Nile, also a former member of the Eastern Star. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville. Friends may call on Friday, February 10, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home to sign the guest register. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to a charity of the donors choice these may be left with the funeral home.
