Donald Dean Golden, 80, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011 at his home. Donald was born on December 31, 1930 in Trenton, Missouri to Fred and Mattie Gitthens Golden. In 1948 Donald join the United States Marie Corps. He served his country until 1952. After his honorable discharge he went to Rockhurst College to receive his Associates Degree in 1955. On May 28, 1966 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Maxine Haines. The couple married in Iola, Kansas and made their home in Coffeyville, Kansas. Donald worked in maintenance for Halliburton and John Deere until his retirement. Donald was a member of the Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville. He was active in the VFW Post 1022, was Commander of the VFW Color Guard, and part of theFun Unit of the VFW that provides Nursing Scholarships. He was also a member of the American Legion, and the 40 and 8. Surviving to honor his memory is his wife, Maxine of the home sons, Brian Curtis Golden and wife, Melva of Ochelata, Oklahoma, Bruce Allen Golden and wife, Kimberly of OFallon, Missouri daughter, Donna Jean May of Marana, Arizona three grandsons three granddaughters and four greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Mattie and granddaughter, Abby. A Graveside inurnment will be held on Monday, October 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Veterans Patio at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas. Pastor Wayne Martin will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the VFW Post 1022 and the American Legion Post 20. PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville will be assisting with the arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to the Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville. These may be left with the funeral home.
