Donald Mayo

At the age of 84 Donald Lee Mayo of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center on April 9, 2019.

Donald was born on September 18, 1934 in Lenapah, Oklahoma to Milt and Dora (Lowery) Mayo. Donald's school days were spent in Lenapah until his enlistment in the US Army where he received an honorable discharged. On April 9, 1959 he married the love of his life, Shirley Replogle in Miami, Oklahoma, together they made their home in Coffeyville. Donald was a faithful and loving husband until death do them part on the day of their 60th Wedding Anniversary.

Donald was known as a quite hard working man retiring from years of service to John Deer formerly known as Funk Manufacturing. He was dedicated to his wife, Shirley his daughters, Sheryl and Ronda, and his grandchildren, Ethan and Rachel. He was a very generous man always willing to help anyone. He was often found extending a helping hand to his family or neighbors. Donald started a herd of cattle by bottle feeding young calves. He enjoyed fishing, and especially enjoyed gardening however, the garden space had continued to shrink in size over the last few years. He wasn't much of a hunter he would rather feed and watch the deer, turkey or other wildlife that would come into feast on the corn left for them. Maybe his intent in feeding the deer and wildlife was to keep them out of his garden.

The family left to share in generational traditions and stories are his wife of the home, Shirley; daughters, Sheryl and husband Terry Bohannon, Ronda and husband David Elsheimer all of Coffeyville; grandchildren, Ethan Elsheimer and wife Monya, Rachel and husband Casey Hanlon; great grandchildren, Braxten and Bentley Elsheimer, Tripp Hanlon all of Caney. Friends are welcome to come and sign the register at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel from 9 am to 5 pm on Thursday, April 11, 2019. Donald will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery with a private family service. To leave a message of condolence for the family visit www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com
