Donna Colene Garding, age 79 is now in the presence of her Heavenly Father, she entered her eternal resting place on May 20, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.
Donna was born in rural Oklahoma on the family farm to Robert and Goldie (Johnson) DeMott. She attended school in the area graduation from Labette High School in Altamont, Kansas. While visiting her brother in California she caught the eye of a young man serving in the Air Force, Leon Garding. Shortly after their meeting they were married in Reno, Nevada on April 8, 1958. The couple made their home in California while Leon continued to serve; he was stationed at the Edwards Air Force Base. After his honorable discharge they moved to Wichita, Kansas where she worked for John Deere for seventeen years. The couple later moved to Coffeyville to be near family. Of their union 3 children were born.
Donna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grammy, daughter, sister, friend and member of the Trinity United Methodist Church also severing with the United Methodist Woman, VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting, making a personal quilt with love in every stich for each family member, she also loved her grandchildren deeply, and her grandchildren never questioned her love for them she showered them with wet loving kisses. Donna would often give nick names to those she cherished most. She enjoyed going to thrift stores, gathering for the family 4th of July Celebration in Cherryvale every year at her brothers farm, collected bears and mask. Donna was an expectantly happy and joyful person, she was often humming and singing throughout her day.
Continuing on with her legacy is her husband of 60 years, Leon of the home; sons, Leon Garding Jr. and his wife Penny, Roger Garding and his wife Barbara; daughter, Robin and her husband Steve Talbott; grandchildren, Chris Garding, Nick Talbott, Brandon Garding, Ashely Sanchez, Clayton Gossett; brother, Dean Demott and his wife Charlyn; sister, Dortha Welch. In addition to her parents Donna is now resting with her brothers, Timothy DeMott, Robert DeMott, and Leslie DeMott.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 1pm at Trinity United Methodist Church with Pastors Nick Talbott and David Kim officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery north of Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 6 to 8pm at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, KS. The family has requested memorial contributions be made payable to Trinity United Methodist Women, contributions may be left in care of the chapel.
