Donnie Lee Hill, Sr. formerly of Coffeyville passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2009 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He was 74. Donnie was born April 3, 1934 in Jay, Oklahoma to Harry and Ruth Dye Hill. He grew up and attended school in Coffeyville. He went on to serve in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Pauline Miller; they made their home in Coffeyville. He enjoyed musical functions, playing in the church band and participating in pow-wows. Donnie was good at breaking horses and was ahorse trader where people get together to buy, sell and trade items. He was of the Pentecostal faith. Surviving to honor his memory are his sons, Donnie Hill, Jr. of Independence, KS, Timmy Joe Hill of Coffeyville, KS; daughters, Paula Stukey and husband Forrest, Donna Mae Standard both of Coffeyville, KS; step-daughter Janie Hearson and husband Terry of Coffeyville, KS; brothers Harold Hill of Independence, KS and Leonard Hill of Pitcher, OK; four grandchildren and two step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Pauline; step-son James Cooper; brother, Jack Hill and sister, Vera Waters and an infant sister Velma. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Jefferson Cemetery north of Coffeyville, Kansas. Arlie Carson will officiate. Friends may call on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. to sign the guest register at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville. The family will be available Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. to greet friends. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Association these may be left with the funeral home.
